Vision Correction in Your 30s

Many people seek permanent vision correction in their 30s. Several factors contribute, including the fact that individuals in this age group usually have a stable prescription, active lifestyles and hate waking up to a blurry world. Planning your day around when your contacts dry out (and drive you crazy) is no way to go through life. You need your eyes to enjoy life to the max without restrictions.

Best Vision Correction Treatments for People in Their 30s

The ideal type of vision correction for you depends on many factors, including your eye health and the type and strength of your prescription. All these frequently used forms of vision correction have rapid visual recovery with minimal down time.

LASIK

As the most familiar name in laser eye surgery, LASIK remains the most widely used vision correction treatment. It works by creating a flap in the corneal surface and then reshaping the cornea with a laser. LASIK can treat farsightedness, nearsightedness, and astigmatism, although it may not treat all prescriptions.

The rapid recovery (one to two days for most people) means LASIK fits almost any schedule. However, creating a corneal flap is not recommended for everyone, so we offer several other options.

SMILE

This advanced form of laser eye surgery performs corneal reshaping by removing a tiny disc (lenticule) of tissue without creating a flap. SMILE has a much smaller incision, making it suitable for many people who cannot have LASIK, including those with dry eye problems or those who engage in contact sports.

The recovery after SMILE is similar to LASIK (one to two days). It treats nearsightedness, the most common type of refractive error in people of this age, and astigmatism, but not farsightedness. SMILE makes vision correction an option for some people who have been told they are not LASIK candidates.

EVO Visian ICL

Laser eye surgery is not the best solution for everyone, and EVO ICL offers an innovative, long-lasting alternative that does not disturb your cornea at all. A biocompatible artificial, corrective lens is placed over your natural one. It rests invisibly behind the colored part of your eye(iris) and treats nearsightedness and astigmatism.

EVO ICL is becoming an increasingly popular alternative to laser vision correction because it is reversible (if needed) and the lens even provides UV light protection. The visual improvement is immediate and there is minimal downtime of 2 days. Once in place, you will not feel or see the lens.

PRK

This is the original LASIK. PRK utilizes a laser to reshape the cornea without the creation of a flap. Patients with high astigmatism and thin corneas are suitable candidates for PRK. This procedure is less popular due to the longer recovery period.

Am I a good candidate for vision correction treatments?

Most people in their 30s can benefit from one of our vision correction treatments. However, only a consultation with our surgeon can determine which treatment option works best for your eye prescription and lifestyle. While most people in this age group have healthy eyes, some conditions may affect whether you are a good candidate.
